Georgian Refugee Children
Priority Project – 4-47400-45-55
Russia-Georgian Border
The border conflict between Russia and Georgia has resulted in the displacement of more than 100,000. At least 34,000 have fled into Russia to escape the fighting in the border area. An Evangelical Missionary Union Church (C&MA Affiliate) in a border city, along with other evangelical churches in the area, is reaching out to refugee children by providing up to 1,000 school kits. Kits are backpacks which will include basic school supplies and a New Testament. In addition, funds will be needed to provide food and supplies for refugees and to assist in their resettlement over the next three months. CAMA has sent an initial $20,000 toward this outreach. In a context where evangelicals are not always viewed favorably, this outreach expresses Christ’s love through the national church and fosters goodwill among both the local community and the government.
Your gift will enable CAMA to provide school supplies to Georgian refugee children.
